Alphabet, Patterns, and the beginning of Advent.

Our Math and Literacy Centers have focused around Patterns and the Alphabet this week.

Our Buddies helped us do some Alphabet exercises in the gym! Each letter had a animal with some fun exercise attached. My favourite was the W - Wolf.

Howl like a wolf while high-fiving people for 10 seconds. It was pretty loud in the gym!

We have been working so hard on our Alphabet book page by page that this was the first time that we sat and actually looked at what we had created. The students loved sharing their crafts with their classmates. Everyone's creations are a little different.

Very cold days means indoor recess. Thank goodness for our Grade 6 helpers! They have been playing Alphabet BINGO and making paper airplanes with the students.

Our Advent Art Project was a hit!
It was a little messy but the students did a fantastic job working with the paper.
We will have them up on display for the Christmas Concert.

We had a fun Friday celebrating my birthday.
The students had to guess my age and we got some amazing guesses!
I am not 3 and I am not 83. I am somewhere in the middle.
We had ice cream pattern scoops, numbered balloons around the classroom
and of course cupcakes.

Letters, Numbers, Fire Fighters, Oh My!

We had a special visitor in Kindergarten this week! My brother Devin is a firefighter and he came in to talk to us about fire safety. The children asked lots of great questions and they loved checking out all of his cool gear!

Firefighter Devin asked all of us to check our homes to make sure that we had smoke detectors on all floors. If you are missing a smoke detector, you can contact the City of Calgary Home Safety Program for help. Here is a link to their website:

We also had a busy week with building numbers and letters.

We have started to prepare for our Christmas concert. The students are encouraged to practiced at home. The concert will be on Dec. 12th and more information will be coming. Here is a YouTube link to the song our class will be singing and dancing to.

We are Unique!

The week started out with our in class field trip.
Ms. Kimberley, our train conductor,
came to our class and led us on a journey helping us discover ourselves.

This month's spirit day is on Nov. 29th. Our class was put in charge of informing the school about the fact that it is PJ Day. This means on Nov. 29th the students can wear their PJs to school instead of their uniforms. We had a blast working on our sorting skills and fine motor skills. I gave the students many pictures of children in PJs, winter coats, or swim wear. It was their job to sort through all the pictures and find the best ones for the posters. The posters will be hung up around the school.

Today was our last day in the gym with all the fun equipment.
I was able to snap some pictures of the students trying out the different stations.
